Why Walking is Ideal for Your Adrenals + Walk to Win Free Coaching!

Would you be game to do something that is super simple, will give you numerous health and emotional/mental/creative benefits, AND get you an hour of free coaching?

Then check this out…

I’m gearing up for a new #20for30Walk Movement Challenge starting August 24th.
And this is one is all about walking. If you can commit to simply walking 20 minutes a day, I’ve got something sweet for you.

Here’s the deal.

You may have noticed that lately I’ve been talking a lot about getting in a daily walk, a habit that I have re-adopted over the last 2 months.

And I gotta tell you…I’ve been loving them so much so that I just had to inspire you to get them going too.

Why?

Here’s three main reasons: (Note: The video freezes for just a couple of seconds, so hang tight!).

1)Your body is built to walk…yes, even if you go to yoga, boxing, etc.

As humans, we are designed to walk. We’ve got these legs that are just made for it! But the problem is, we simply don’t do enough of it. We’ve made the mistake of thinking that if we go to that hour yoga, dance, barre, boxing, or whatever kind of class that we don’t need to walk, that if we just “work out” for an hour, it’s cool to sit for the other 23 of them.

Wrong. Walking is still an important part of health and well-being.

Committing to a daily walk is one way to make sure you are making time to leave your work desk or couch and move like your body was hardwired to do. It’s a great way to show your body some love, because She really loves to move. And…it’s free!

2) It’s the perfect source of movement to protect your adrenals and is perfect for Every Body.

Feeling stressed and overwhelmed? You aren’t alone.

Most of us are.

But if you are feeling constantly stressed and/or are smack in the middle of a very challenging time in your life, walking can be a perfect adrenal-loving way to move.

I’ve learned this lesson first-hand.

In case you haven’t caught me talking about why I started walking more again, here’s the short scoop: I’ve been dealing with major adrenal fatigue. I taxed them so much in the past year or so that they can’t even give me enough cortisol to get that morning get up and go.

That means that boxing (for now) isn’t happening because it is simply too high impact and taxing on my already compromised adrenals. As much as I also love my dance classes and still do make it to those, I haven’t been able to go as much as I usually do; if I have enough energy, I try and go once a week.

But walking, however, is super healing to the adrenals, making it an ideal source of movement.
And walking is great for all fitness levels, from the seasoned marathoner to the “I’m just getting back into moving my body” kinda gal.

Let me be clear. Intense movement isn’t bad (unless you aren’t finding any joy in it. I actually love boxing and miss it a ton). Had my life not been so emotionally taxing the last year, I doubt I would be dealing with this level of adrenal exhaustion to begin with It’s just that if you are overly stressed and/or you do too much of it, this positive thing you are doing for yourself can actually cause more stress on the body than it can handle.

I’ve scaled back over the last 2 months and hope to ease some more intensity into my movement rituals soon, but I know that these walks are going to be a habit I will hold on to.

I think once you get walking, you too will get hooked on this habit.

3) Walking gives you creative hits and clarity of mind.

There’s something that happens when you put one foot in front of the other.
A kind of magic, if you will.

Ideas come. Solutions begin to take shape. Creativity strikes. Emotions move through you.
You find your breath. You get embodied. You connect with yourself in a deeper way.

It really doesn’t matter if you power walk, move briskly, or simply stroll.

Walking will give you answers and carry you to new possibilities. Yes, really.

Ok, so by now I’m hoping you are bought into incorporating daily walks.

If so, I’m hoping you will join me for my upcoming “20 For 30 Walking Challenge”.

Ready to join the challenge? Here’s how it works:

For the 30 days (August 24th-September 22nd, 2015), you will be committing to walking a minimum of 20 minutes.

You can do more if you desire, but not less.
You can stroll, walk with your dogs or kids or best friends. You can power walk if you wish.
Do what feels right for you for that day and listen to your body.
You can split up your time. You can go multiple times of days.
Bottom line, walk a minimum of 20 minutes for 30 consecutive days.

Now, if you would like to be an inspiration to your friends, family, and community and share your commitment AND possibly win some free coaching, listen up!

I want you to take your commitment public and enter the “20 for 30 Walking Challenge Giveaway.” And if you, you could win an hour of free coaching with yours truly. Best of all, you will be inspiring everyone around you to do something good for themselves!
